Apply online now!
Applications are due by May 25th, 2010.
The Lyceum for Oratory is an advanced institute: designed for individuals who have competed in original oratory in high school forensics competition. However, in the summer of 2010 we will begin piloting a program for students who have not competed in original oratory entitled Lyceum-Foundations that will run concurrently with the advanced program in Boston. This opportunity will be available to the first five students who apply. Lyceum-Foundations will focus on providing the same individual attention provided in the advanced program and access to the same coaches, but the lecture series will be tailored to teaching individuals the foundational components needed to begin competing in oratory in high school forensics. Please contact Ashley Mack at lyceumoratory at gmail.com for more information.
Applications will be accepted online for both programs and students are welcome to send in a coach’s letter of recommendation to assist Summit Debate in the competitive selection process for the advanced program.
Applicants must submit a 500 word personal statement along with their application. This statement should address why the student is applying for the Lyceum; what they believe they will get out of the Lyceum experience; and how they will help challenge and enrich the experience of their peers at the institute. This statement MUST be submitted through e-mail, and sent to: lyceumoratory at gmail dot com. Please indicate in the e-mail whether you are applying for the Advanced program or for the Foundations program.
A $50 application fee is due with each application for consideration; you can pay this by check, payable to Summit Debate. Please mail your application fee, after you have submitted your online application, to Summit Debate, 6511 Nova Dr. #279, Davie, FL 33317.
Admissions are competitive for the advanced program. If you are admitted, a tuition deposit of $500 will be due, within two weeks, to secure your spot. The balance of tuition is due by June 1, 2010.
